As a first job Putnam will give you a fast trajectory towards increased responsibility. This includes owning work streams as well as managing teams. Compensation also has a much steeper trajectory than other firms after your first year at the company.

Collaborative environment and learning new things every day

Experienced in Health Care and/or Pharmaceuticals | Boston, MA | 2018 | VERIFIED EMPLOYEE

Uppers

I work with really smart people, who are good people. They care about the work they do and what we deliver to our clients.

Downers

The work is hard. But if it wasn't, then everyone would do it.

Advice to Candidates

I would compare firm "alumni" to that of other firms. Something like 93% of people who have left Putnam to get their MBA went to a top-5 business school. It's a great place to work and a great place to build your career.

Challenging and fun place to work with great colleagues and opportunities to make a difference

Executive in Health Care and/or Pharmaceuticals | Boston, MA | 2018 | VERIFIED EMPLOYEE

Uppers

Great management team, great culture, great colleagues (smart, hardworking, fun, kind), challenging work, commitment to quality

Downers

No ice machine

Advice to Candidates

I've worked in many different consulting firms over the years (including McKinsey), and this is by far the best place to work!

Unparalleled growth opportunities for junior employees

Entry-level in Health Care and/or Pharmaceuticals | Boston, MA | 2018 | VERIFIED EMPLOYEE

Uppers

Ownership and growth opportunities for junior employees (my level of responsibility seems significantly higher than peers' at similar firms); expertise in life sciences and strong reputation with clients; flat culture and high level of mentorship from partners and senior managers; exciting period of growth for the company

Downers

Inflexible and unpredictable hours; focus of projects weighted toward pharma rather than broader health care strategy issues; some managers who prioritize product over the quality of life of their team

Come to Putnam!! A great place to learn.

For consulting, it is one of the better options. For a post-grad job, try something else.

It can be a good stepping stone, but its not for those with deeper interests in healthcare and/or academia.
