Having a part-time job while you’re in college can make a huge impact on your life and career. It can boost your finances, skill set, resume, and network. Here are some of the best part-time jobs for you to consider.

Tutoring

If you excel in a certain subject, you can offer tutoring services to fellow students who need help. Tutoring allows you to control your workload and create a comfortable schedule. Look for tutoring job opportunities on your university’s website. You can also consider creating guides for your clients and selling them for an additional fee.

Research assistant

Most high performing students have strong research and analytical skills. If that applies to you, don’t be afraid to use these skills to assist professors or researchers with their projects. You can choose a field that you have experience in or one you are merely interested in learning more about (which will broaden your knowledge). Before taking a research assistant position, remember to discuss the working hours to ensure you have enough time for studying.

Retail associate

Working in retail allows you to gain customer service experience and learn about sales and inventory management. It also allows you to learn about the retail business from the inside and decide whether it’s an industry that attracts you. Beware that this job might not have a flexible schedule. Therefore, you might need to sacrifice your studying time. So, before jumping into a retail position, consider all the risks and decide whether you want to prioritize your working over studying at this point in your life.

Art and craft sales

If you make art or crafts, you can create and sell your creations online or at local craft fairs. This is an especially excellent option if you’re studying art, as it allows you to earn money while further exploring your area of study. But make sure that you have enough time to create your art objects without sacrificing the studying process. In addition, if you’re an art student, you have valuable knowledge you can share with others. So, you might consider creating a short course dedicated to one of the art or craft topics you’re passionate about. People love to learn more about different art styles and historical periods.

Freelance writing

If writing assignments don’t stress you out, consider the job of a freelance writer. You can get paid to write essays and other academic assignment samples at companies like EssayShark and help students who lack time to do it on their own. It’s a convenient part-time job, as you can work from anywhere and at any time, making the job easy to fit into your busy study schedule. The job has the additional benefit of improving your writing skills. The more you write, the more engaging and comprehensive your essays and papers become.

Freelance photography or videography

If you're good at taking photos and creating engaging videos, you can offer your services for events or portraits. Even though some people believe that anyone can create beautiful photo and video content using their phones, real professionals know that this is far from being true. So, if you have a camera that allows you to take spectacular photos, use it to express your creativity. You can also take long walks and take pictures of something that attracts your attention and then sell these photos to stock image platforms like Shutterstock, Unsplash, and others.

Josh Collins is a published writer of fantasy novels. Josh can be found at EssayShark.
