Kristen Bell's consulting pilot picked up by Showtime
Published: Apr 08, 2011
Rejoice, ladies and gentlemen—the moment we've all been waiting for has finally arrived! In a stunning newsbreak, Showtime announced yesterday that House of Lies, the hottest management consulting television drama ever to grace the digital cable box, will air as a full series after the pilot was deemed a success.
How hot, you say? Showtime bills the new blockbuster as "a scathing look at a self-loathing management consultant from a top-tier firm." If that isn't hot enough for you, well, you probably drank too many Four Lokos this morning.
K-Bell: One hell of an analyst.
House of Lies, based on Martin Kihn's classic consulting tell-all book House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Tell You the Time, stars Don Cheadle (pretty cool) and Kristen Bell (positively delightful). According to Showtime, Cheadle's character "Marty" is "a highly-successful and cutthroat consultant who is never above using any means (or anyone) necessary to get his way with and for his clients." I must say, that sounds suspiciously like a buzz quote from our consulting survey. Bell, the bona fide beaut of Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Veronica Mars fame, plays "Jeannie Van Der Hooven, a razor-sharp, Ivy-League graduate who works at Marty’s firm." But you already knew that, because you're an avid reader of Consult THIS and read my original post.
What you won't have gleaned from that magnificent introduction to K-Bell's consulting initiation is that the inaugural season (we pray it won't be the last) will treat viewers to twelve 30-minute episodes. Emmy-winner Stephen Hopkins, previously a director and executive producer on hit shows Californication and 24, will serve in both capacities on House of Lies. Bell and Cheadle's co-stars will include Dawn Oliveri, Ben Schwartz and Josh Lawson, whoever those people are.
The show starts production this summer.
Amen.
