&lt;p&gt;Prestige is an important component in selecting a consulting firm for both consultants and their clients. As part of the survey process, we asked each of those consultants to rate their competitors on a scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being the most prestigious. (Note: consultants cannot rate their own firm for prestige or practice areas). Then, we simply average the scores, from the firm with the highest score (in this case, McKinsey, with an average of 8.954 out of 10) on down.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;For those who are interested in specific practice areas, we follow the same methodology, but with a reduced peer group: consultants only rate firms within their own practice areas.
