ITVS offers $15,000 for unique ideas

For all of you who identify yourself as diverse and have an idea that promises to depict a unique point of view or explore an issue from an unconventional lens, this might be the chance you have been waiting for. The Independent Television Service or ITVS is offering $15,000 to independent producers with creative ideas who aim to serve "underserved audiences."

Their Diversity Development Fund will fund research and development costs to develop single documentary programs for public television. The important details for the creative amongst you:

Deadline: September 25, 2009; Finalists will be asked to submit further material. Final winners will be announced by mid-December.

Eligibility:

1) Must indentify as a member of one of the following communities:

  • African-American
  • Native American
  • Asian American
  • Latino
  • Arab American
  • Pacific Islander

2) Must not have begun production.

3) Must have some previous television/film experience.
