6 Great Tech Employers That Hire Hybrid and Remote Workers
Published: Apr 25, 2025

With many tech firms demanding that employees return to the office on a full-time basis, it can be daunting for new graduates or early-career tech professionals to look for remote or hybrid work. However, there’s still a whole host of great tech employers embracing flexible working policies, hiring for remote and hybrid roles. Below are six of the most innovative when it comes to remote and hybrid work.
Automattic is the parent company of tech platforms such as WordPress, Tumblr, Gravatar, and Longreads, which have embraced hybrid and remote working to improve diversity, equity and inclusion in the tech industry. With around 2,000 employees from 90 countries, the company prides itself on its ‘remote-first’ culture, allowing employees to work from any location and set their own hours. Alongside flexible working, Automattic offers a competitive benefits package, which varies by location and includes generous parental leave and sabbaticals.
As a company whose video conferencing software, Teams, has helped to facilitate successful hybrid and remote working for many other businesses, it is no surprise that Microsoft also embraces flexible working. Like many other companies, its hybrid policies do vary from up to 100 percent remote to on-site only roles. This is clearly stated in its job listings, so applicants will be aware of this at the point of interest.
If you’re considering starting a career in technology, fintech is a great industry to look at, as it’s fast growing and often celebrates hybrid and remote working. Growing fintech startup One is a banking service that aims to help people achieve financial progress. It is a remote-first workplace that offers several internships across their business, so it’s a great employer for early career positions or those seeking to build experience while studying.
Pinterest’s flexible working policy (called PinFlex) promotes flexibility while aiming to prioritize in-person relationship building to “celebrate culture and drive inspiration.” Other notable perks include their Work-From-Anywhere benefit, which allows eligible employees to spend up to 90 days working outside of their country of employment, meaning you don’t have to do any quiet vacationing and can best utilize your valuable PTO days.
Salesforce has arguably one of the most effective hybrid work models because it was designed by its employees! The company took into account the responses to an employee well-being survey to influence its flexible working policies. Salesforce has three ways of working: 1) Office-flex (one to three days in the office per week), 2) Fully remote for roles that are not office dependent, and 3) On-site office roles (four to five days in-person) for job functions where in-person work is essential. (Be sure to check the requirements when looking for roles, which should be clearly stated in job adverts.)
Spotify, the music tech giant, has a Work From Anywhere program, meaning employees work where best suits them—whether that's at home, in the office, or a bit of both. The company also has a thorough remote onboarding process to ensure that all employees, regardless of location, have the same high-quality experience when joining the company, and access to learning and training opportunities online (this allows employees to participate live or when it best suits them). Although roles are hybrid, certain positions require you to be in particular regions or time zones to ensure you can effectively work with your team during core hours.
A Final Note
Today, roles such as engineers, social marketing professionals, web developers, virtual sales and marketing assistants, writers, and editors can all be done remotely. And it’s important to note that remote and hybrid work environments are not only a big plus for employees working in these roles but also very beneficial for employers. While flexible working arrangements have been shown to improve employees' mental health, promote a better work/life balance, and increase employee satisfaction and retention rates, they also allow employers to expand their application pools and attract a more diverse employee base. This ensures that employers are hiring and retaining the very best people for the job.
