In Case You Missed It: Week of July 20, 2009

Published:  Jul 24, 2009

This is the rewind, a handy recap of some of the notable Pink Slipped posts from earlier this week.

Monday was a bit of a downer, as we cited the New York Times' poll of economists who said the recovery in the jobs market would likely arrive "no sooner than next summer." (See "Room for hope?") Marsh & McLennan is looking for an HR assistant, and UnitedHealth Group is searching for a senior administrative assistant in Albuquerque ("Jobs in Your Area").

On Tuesday we spotlighted our upcoming Vault/MCCA Legal Diversity Career Fair (on August 7) and the 2009 Law Firm Diversity Database online in "Job Search Resources of the Week."

On Wednesday, we noted that Yahoo is "selectively" hiring sales folk and engineers ("Fresh new jobs"). Also, Pink Slipped posted word that Salve Regina University is looking for a tech support specialist in Newport, Rhode Island, and Gaylord Entertainment in Nashville is desperately seeking an assistant golf pro (!) in "Jobs in Your Area."

Yesterday, Pink Slipped ask which side of 9am you fall on ("Dolly Parton's '9 to 5' or Shakira's 'Whenever, Wherever'?"). And don't forget about the free stuff! For this week: Mars' "Real Chocolate Relief Act," the company's calorically diabolical plan to distribute 250,000 candy bars gratis every Friday through the end of September. (Put it on next week's To Do list.)

Have a great weekend -- relax and rest up so you can restart this whole job search thing on Monday.
