Stump the Intern! [Reader Mail]

Q: Laid off from my full-time graphic design job, I have been hopping around from freelance gig to freelance gig, moving on either when one ends or when I find another that pays more. My resume has great experience, and lots of it--six companies in the past 15 months. How can I assume future employers that I'm not a "jump-ship" kind of guy?

Not ready to walk the plank
A: Since this is the recession, employers are more likely to be sympathetic to having to looking out for number one. You have to make money, right? And in a recession, that's harder to do because jobs are few and far between. Secondly, crafting your resume to make it appear as though you have done less job hopping than you actually have will help. Check out Vault's article here. Good luck!
