Stump The Intern! [Reader Mail]
Published: Jun 25, 2009
Q: Let me cut to the chase: I’m unemployed and my job search is going, in my humble opinion, rather poorly. I’m not asking you to write up and reformat my resume or cover letter for me—(not that I would necessarily turn down the offer)—but can I get a little help?

A: I’m glad to see that as part of your job search, you’re seeking out ways to improve your applications. A solid cover letter and resume will definitely catch an employer or recruiter’s eye. I once applied for the same internship two different semesters; the first time I didn’t get an interview, but the second time, after fleshing out my resume and cover letter, I was offered and accepted the position. So here you go: check out Vault’s Resume and Cover Letter section and please let me know how it works out for you.
