Let&#39;s talk about Zombies.  Why not?  Zombies are fun (when viewed from afar).  I was listening to &lt;em&gt;Wait, Wait, Don&#39;t Tell Me&lt;/em&gt;, the NPR news quiz show last weekend, and I discovered that somebody reconfigured a Jane Austen classic to include zombie scenes!  That&#39;s right, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith.  I love the tag line, &quot;The Classic Regency Romance--Now with Ultraviolent Zombie Mayhem!&quot;&lt;p&gt;Anyway, in today&#39;s &lt;em&gt;Forbes&lt;/em&gt;, Thomas Cooley writes about Zombie Firms and Zombie Banks:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&quot;As we wring our hands about getting more involved in the financial sector and saving the jobs in the auto sector, and as we watch the many inefficient industries line up for help, it behooves us to ask: Which of these are zombies? If there is one lesson that seems to leap out at us, it is that, however great the short-term costs, the costs of keeping zombies alive is much greater. With stopgap measures in place, designed as much to sustain the zombie illusion as anything else, it becomes harder and harder for legislators to tap into the political will for painful but essential remedies.&quot;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt; As we contemplate the seemingly brainless decisions that led to record job losses, the tumult on Wall Street, and people walking through the streets of New York in a state of thinly veiled panic, check out this video from the 50s.
