Law student and lateral jobseekers choose their firms for various reasons—strength and prestige in a particular practice area, quality and type of work available, firm culture, prestige, and of course, location. Whether for family reasons, proximity to a particular industry (entertainment in Southern California and oil & gas in Texas come to mind!), or just a need for a different environment than where you are now, you may be looking to start—or move—your career in a specific region.

Vault Law’s Regional Resource Centers are a new resource for attorneys looking to quickly and easily find details on leading law firms in their target location. (This is the resource I wish had been available when I graduated from law school and when we relocated to a new state!) The Regional Resource Centers bring key information about the legal landscape in major U.S. regions to one place, providing easy access to:

• The Vault Law Regional Prestige Rankings for that region.

Law firms’ Vault profiles, including quotes from current associates about their experience at the firm, data, an overview of the firm, and more.

An opportunity to hear from the firm itself about what is unique about its office(s) in that region, or other firm highlights.

Articles from the Vault Law team on topics including top-ranked firms headquartered in that region, top practice areas in that region, and more.

Vault Law Rankings

As part of our annual Law Firm Associate Survey, we ask associates to rate the reputations of peer firms in the region where they currently work. Associates could only rate the firms in their specific region and could not rate their own firms. The most recent rankings for each region are included on the top left of each Regional Resource Center and update automatically each year when new rankings are released. For firms where Vault ranks large and midsize firms, both ranking categories are included.

Law Firm Tiles

Our law firm tiles on each Regional Resource Center make it easy to find key information to help you find a firm that is a good fit for you and your unique criteria.

Firm Logos

Each firm’s logo links to the firm’s website for a quick connection to the firm’s careers page, practice area listings, news and updates, and attorney profiles. Use the firm’s website to learn about specific practices, read up on an interviewer or recent notable matters before an interview, and see how the firm presents itself to clients and jobseekers.

Vault Profile Link

The “Vault Profile” link takes you to the firm’s Vault Law Profile, where you can find data points—like the number of first-year associates hired, partners named, notable awards, and more—as well as the insider information Vault is known for, the associate quotes. Vault’s associate quotes come from the same survey that generates our rankings, providing insight into what it’s really like to work at each firm. You can see a firm’s full slate of rankings on its profile, and some profiles will include additional content like “Why Work Here,” the firm’s Diversity Report, and practice area Q&As.

See What the Firm Says Link

Each tile also includes a “See What the Firm Says” button, where firms share more details on their offices in a given region, including more associate quotes, videos about the associate experience, articles highlighting a unique practice area focus, and more.

Advice from Vault Law

As the title suggests, this section is where you can find helpful articles from the Vault Law team, including posts highlighting top-ranked firms headquartered in that region, Q&A recaps of top practice areas in that region, and more.
