Simpson is RSVPing YES to Sullivan's Spring Bonus Party
Published: Jan 26, 2011
January is becoming the new November for BigLaw bonus news (does that mean we get a second round of over-eating and football-coma?). Above the Law is reporting that Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP is matching Sullivan & Cromwell’s spring bonuses. In case you’ve been living in a dingy basement reviewing documents since Monday, Sullivan announced that in April, it would pay the following bonus money in addition to the 2010 bonuses already distributed:
Class of 2010: $2,500
Class of 2009: $7,500
Class of 2008: $10,000
Class of 2007: $10,000
Class of 2006: $12,500
Class of 2005: $15,000
Class of 2004: $17,500
Class of 2003: $20,000
Class of 2002 and above: $20,000.
With Simpson matching, it looks like we’re in for an interesting few days of law-firm competition. Which firms will belly up with the dough, and which will tighten their fists around their dollars? Do you think your firm will join in the bonus fun? Take Vault’s poll on spring firm bonuses, and let us know what you think.
