We asked the White & Case Summer Associate Class of 2024 for their thoughts on the ten-week Summer Program. Here's their candid feedback on the professional highs, personal growth, and even the unexpected aspects of the White & Case Summer Program.

On our Firm culture...

"I think the people are great! Everyone is extremely friendly and always willing to explain things when needed. I never feel hesitant about asking questions, and it feels like everyone is very encouraging about wanting us to succeed. You can tell that people work hard, but also that they have the time to breathe and spend time away from work when needed."

"The people I worked with this summer are some of the nicest and friendliest people I've met in my life; I feel like I've made genuine friends in my brief time here."

"I love how people at the Firm operates like a family rather than merely coworkers. I appreciated hearing stories and witnessing how people show up for one another."

"People here are very globally minded, open and compassionate."

On the work...

"Partners and associates alike were extremely approachable and helpful with advice throughout the process, which I appreciated very much, considering how busy they are. They really took time to talk to summers and inform us about what things will really be like when we come back."

"The breadth of the work is amazing. I felt like I was able to try out work from several practice groups, and felt like each pushed me in different ways, encouraging creativity and the development of my legal skillset."

"The Firm is truly global—you'll end up receiving assignments from lawyers in your office as well as from those on other continents."

On pro bono opportunities...

"I really, really enjoyed my pro bono experience because of how closely it aligned to what I indicated I was interested in, and I really appreciate that the Firm took the time to match me in this regard."

"I valued the chance to have my first client interaction through my pro bono work this summer."

"The pro bono work which I did was another highlight of my summer at White & Case. The work was interesting, challenging and meaningful, and the associates who we worked with were massively helpful and patient!"

"I got to take on a very personal pro bono project involving a passion of mine. I got to be very hands-on with lots of client communications. I was not expecting as much autonomy with the pro bono project, but I really appreciated it."

The experience of working at a global firm

"The global nature truly permeates every aspect of the Firm—you feel it in the work that you do, the people that you meet, the seminars that you attend, and a lot of interactions which you have. It is a truly unique place in this regard."

"Experts of all geographies are a moment’s notice away from being able to assist in cross-border and international matters."

"It is very global. In my practice, I was constantly switching between English and Spanish. Moreover, I had weekly team meetings that included an associate in Spain. The work itself touches multiple countries. It truly is the most global firm I have encountered."

The social side of the Summer Program...

"A really great combination of different kinds of activities. I thought there was at least one thing that everyone loved, and it always appealed to many different kinds of audiences."

“The social events were a highlight of the summer. I found that I really got to know a number of different lawyers and summers outside of the office, which was great.”

... and the unexpected aspects of life at White & Case

"So many lawyers are White & Case lifers—this was a pleasant surprise!"

"I was amazed by the culture of mentorship at the Firm."

"I was surprised by the level of support given to me by the lawyers that I worked with. The communication, the detailed instructions, the ongoing support and the willingness to answer questions was hugely appreciated."
