The Summer Program at Morgan Lewis

Discover the innovative, immersive work experience of the Morgan Lewis Summer Associate Program. Running late May through late July, we start our 10-week program with our annual Summer Program Kickoff, where all our summer associates gather with firm leaders for a multiday orientation, training, and networking program in a US city where the firm has an office. 

Wherever we gather, the goal of our Kickoff remains the same: to introduce our summer associates to our summer program, to the firm and our unique culture, and to our enthusiasm for working together.

This enthusiasm continues throughout the program with a rich experience that combines hands-on, in-depth work with professional development and training. During the 10-week program, summer associates participate in targeted professional development that provides the tools needed for our associates to become accomplished, successful lawyers. Summer associates also have the opportunity to attend engaging social activities to meaningfully interact with our lawyers and one another.

Our program offers hands-on, in-depth work experience on active client and pro bono matters. Summer associates work with our lawyers on engaging assignments that include shadowing, drafting, and researching interesting matters across our practice areas. A cornerstone of our program is our commitment to pro bono. Summer associates are given the opportunity to participate in our annual Community Impact Week, which takes place each June across all Morgan Lewis offices.

Joining our program means summer associates are able to spend all 10 weeks working side by side with our lawyers. Students are paired with associates and partners who offer guidance through a robust mentorship program, including connections with our firm’s affinity group networks.  

Summer associates depart from the program feeling that the firm has provided them a realistic, true experience of what life is like as an associate at Morgan Lewis. The firm not only prepares students for a career at Morgan Lewis but also supports their long-term career goals.
