The Team: 
Upstart’s FP&A team plays an integral role in the company’s business and financial planning process. We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Financial Analyst to support our Emerging Products organization—one of the most dynamic and fast-evolving areas of our business.
As a Financial Analyst at Upstart, you will support all aspects of FP&A which includes in-depth financial and business planning, collaborating with business leaders across the company, and driving analyses for business and strategic cases. You’ll work at the intersection of data, automation, and finance—improving how we plan, report, and analyze performance. Through your efforts, we’ll be able to ensure the Upstart leadership team stays on top of our financial performance and risks.

How you’ll make an impact
<ul>
<li>Support short- and long-term planning and forecasting with driver-based modeling and ROI analysis; highlight trends, risks, and opportunities to guide action</li>
<li>Analyze new-product unit economics and convert findings into concise, actionable recommendations</li>
<li>Collaborate cross-functionally to translate assumptions into forecasts, sensitivities, and clear financial implications</li>
<li>Create scalable FP&A tools and processes by refining models and automating reporting to improve accuracy, speed, and clarity of insights</li>
<li>Partner with Accounting on month- and quarter-end close; reconcile to forecast, analyze variances, and communicate results</li>
<li>Deliver executive summaries and monthly financial updates for leaders, and support earnings prep, board/business reviews, and consolidated reporting</li>
</ul>
Minimum Qualifications 
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent practical experience)</li>
<li>2+ years of relevant experience</li>
<li>Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and financial modeling (driver-based, scenario analysis)</li>
<li>Strong presentation skills; comfortable communicating with multiple levels of leadership</li>
<li>Proven ability to learn quickly, work independently, and adapt in a fast-paced environment</li>
<li>Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadline</li>
</ul>
Preferred Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Experience with SQL (and/or Python/R) for analysis or report automation</li>
<li>Familiarity with BI tools (Looker, Mode, Tableau)</li>
<li>Experience with planning software (e.g., Adaptive Insights, Anaplan)</li>
<li>Industry exposure to B2C SaaS or lending/fintech</li>

Time zone requirements The team operates on the East/West coast time zones. 
Travel requirements As a digital first company, the majority of your work can be accomplished remotely. The majority of our employees can live and work anywhere in the U.S but are encouraged to to still spend high quality time in-person collaborating via regular onsites. The in-person sessions’ cadence varies depending on the team and role; most teams meet once or twice per quarter for 2-4 consecutive days at a time.

The Team
Upstart’s Offer Delivery Team is focused on driving growth by deepening relationships with our existing customers. Our vision is to give users continuous access to credit and keep them engaged with relevant, timely offers that enhance their financial journey throughout their experience with Upstart.
As a Software Engineer at Upstart, you will play a role in shaping how we drive growth and engagement through intelligent targeting, seamless offer presentation, and strategic product recommendations. You’ll be responsible for enhancing our logged in user dashboard, optimizing out-of-funnel cross-sell strategies, and advancing our efforts by improving data collection, pricing orchestration, and personalized offer experiences. Your work will directly contribute to increasing customer lifetime value and helping more people access the right financial products at the right time.
How you’ll make an impact:
<ul>
<li>Design and implement features that support intelligent, personalized offer recommendations to our user base</li>
<li>Work with Product Managers, Product Designers, Research Scientists, and Marketing Managers to design and deliver high-quality products</li>
<li>Leverage experimentation and data-driven insights to refine growth strategies, optimizing engagement and conversion through continuous testing, iteration, and personalization.</li>
<li>Promote a culture of technical excellence focused on providing high quality solutions and incrementally enhance systems with each pull request. </li>
</ul>
Minimum Qualifications: 
<ul>
<li>Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field</li>
<li>5+ years of experience in software development with the ability to operate in a full stack capacity</li>
<li>Experience in product oriented teams with quantifiable customer impact</li>
<li>Experience designing, developing, and deploying scalable microservices-based applications</li>
</ul>
Preferred Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field</li>
<li>Experience with growth engineering product stacks (Optimizations, Experimentation, Personalization, Recommendation Systems, etc)</li>

The Team: 
The Analytics team at Upstart is at the forefront of AI/ML-driven credit lending across the organization. Our team employs analytical and technical prowess to deliver comprehensive support in Upstart’s lending platform. The Credit Analytics team is building out foundational frameworks and infrastructures on forecasting and oversights, to inform business decisions across market cycles, emerging trends, risk and return trade-offs, among others. We also take pride in developing our business intelligence tools to empower self-service insight discovery and reporting automation.
As an Analyst at Upstart, you will join our Credit Analytics horizontal team, focusing on the risk capital program performance. You will support workstreams in driving critical insights and decisions concerning credit performance and strategies, and contributing to the long term development in underwriting framework and analytics infrastructure.The credit forecast pillar manages asset valuation and forecasting pipelines, ensuring continuous feedback loop with product and business roadmaps. You will be collaborating closely with other Data Analytics, Machine Learning, and Product teams, you will spearhead initiatives that support Upstart’s multi-product growth and extend our market leadership in lending.
How you’ll make an impact
<ul>
<li>Partner with the Data Analytics vertical teams, Machine Learning, Product, Engineering, and Finance teams to shape credit metrics and narratives, financial forecast, and driving consensus in the state of Upstart platform</li>
<li>Influence Upstart’s credit platform and investor/lending community through informing decisions, opportunities, and risks, while supported by deep understanding and insights on Upstart’s machine learning model, credit, and valuation</li>
<li>Develop analytics on underwriting decisions, credit monitoring, model impacts, asset forecast, and valuation modeling to conduct in-depth analyses on credit data, trends, and anomalies that drive model and product decisions</li>
<li>Build foundational forecast models, data pipelines, and automated reporting to enable robust and dynamic credit intelligence for Upstart analyst community</li>
<li>Collaborate with the analyst community on best practices and foster a center of excellence on data, credit, and analytics</li>
</ul>
Minimum Qualifications 
<ul>
<li>1-3 years of professional experience with demonstrated growth in technology and financial industry</li>
<li>Experience in credit analytics, valuation, and/or quantitative financial model development with Python, R, & SQL </li>
<li>Experience in decisioning supported by large datasets, data modeling, and data pipelines using tools like Databricks, DBT, Looker, Snowflake, & Redshift</li>
<li>Degree in Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Data Science or other quantitative field</li>
</ul>

Preferred Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and in deep partnership with cross-functional colleagues especially in Finance, Product, Data Engineering, ML teams</li>
<li>Ability to craft executive-ready narratives around complex business or performance topics, leveraging visualization and dashboards (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI, Looker), and to successfully influence and drive C-level decision-making</li>
<li>Experience in consumer lending strategy, and/or investment experience in consumer credit capital markets, private credit, structured products</li>
<li>Experience in coaching and mentoring junior team members on technical subjects</li>
</ul>
