Mike’s Hard Lemonade was created by alcohol and spirit genius Anthony von Mandl. Launched in 1999, the beverage proved itself wildly successful right from the start. The brand finds home at von Mandl’s brewing company Mark Anthony Brewing. It is the fourth largest brewing company in the United States. Mike’s Hard Lemonade was the first of a new kind of alcoholic beverage: Flavored Malt Beverages (FMBs). According to von Mandl, “up to 25% of guys didn’t particularly want to drink beer, but couldn’t be seen holding anything else in their hand.” Mike’s was the perfect solution.
