About the Company
Mutual of Omaha was founded in 1909, and a year later was authorized to issue health and accident insurance policies in Nebraska. As World War I approached and men began to leave for battle, Mutual of Omaha extended its coverage to women, who would make up a large portion of the workforce during this time. Shortly after, Mutual of Omaha was licensed to sell insurance in 15 additional states, and began selling life insurance as well as pension and annuity products for groups and individuals.
