What’s in a Name?
Ice Miller was founded in Indianapolis in 1910 by leading local attorney Frederick Matson, who stayed at the firm until 1941—long enough to see the firm undergo five name changes. It wasn’t until 2000, three years post-expansion to a second office in Chicago, that the firm changed its name to Ice Miller. In 2012, the firm experienced a growth spurt when it combined with the Ohio regional firm of Schottenstein Zox and Dunn Co., which added nearly 100 lawyers and new offices in the state.
