The firm began as the consulting arm of KPMG, a major professional services and accounting firm, and became fully independent in the early 2000s. It experienced rapid initial growth, but struggled amid the Great Recession, filing for bankruptcy for its U.S. operations in 2009. However, that was not an end, but a new beginning: In 2009, the firm’s European partners executed a management buyout. The firm has only grown since then, opening new offices and making targeted acquisitions.
