HCL Technologies Limited saw its origins in 1976 when a group of engineers decided to start a company that would manufacture personal computers. The company was initially called Microchip Limited before changing to the more familiar Hindustan Computers Limited (HCL). Originally the R&D division of HCL Enterprise, HCL Technologies eventually became its own entity specializing in software services. After a series of key acquisitions in the early 2000s and during the 2010s, the company expanded its operations to have offices in over 50 countries. HCL Technologies’ current CEO is C. Vijayakumar and its corporate headquarters is located in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India.
