About the Company
Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) is the country’s largest military shipbuilder, building both combat and transport ships for the U.S. Navy. It’s comprised of three parts: Ingalls Shipbuilding, Newport News Shipbuilding, and Mission Technologies. The company’s parts have been around in some form for more than 100 years, but it was officially founded in 2011 when Northrop Grumman spun it off into a separate business. The company is based in Newport News, Virginia, and its president and CEO is Christopher Kastner.
Ingalls Shipbuilding and Newport News Shipbuilding both build different types of combat and carrier ships for the U.S. Navy, and Mission Technologies provides services centered on the usage of ships and their technologies, like fleet support, cybersecurity, unmanned systems, and more.
