Intern Reviews
- “The culture was really cool—there was a lot of built-in support for interns, and it was clear that Garmin cared about their employees in general. A good work/life balance was emphasized, and I am not sure I saw anyone ever go over 40 hours/outside of the general work-week hours (or their assigned hours if they had a more flexible schedule). I was really impressed by how strongly everyone was committed to making sure that all the work was fairly distributed and going to be done in the normal working week so nobody would have to stay late, that was pretty cool.”
- “Only ever expected to work 40 hours a week. Overtime was never expected. Very active culture with many employees choosing to play sports during breaks and lunches. PTO was accrued by interns and no issues from management with trying to use it. Also, everyone is willing to help out and answer any questions that you have.”
- “It seems like the people here at the company want to be around each other. They're always grilling, playing sports during the work week, and always planning events after work like going to a bar or a sports game or whatnot. You're expected to do your best job within reason, but you're also given a ton of flexibility to stay active and have fun with coworkers. As an intern, I'm not even allowed to work past 45 hours because my team doesn't want me staying extremely late. Also, even though I'm slated to work an 8-5, I can show up/leave early if I've fulfilled my 40. I can also make up hours if need be as well by shifting the hours to different days.”
- “Your day-to-day at Garmin is full of genuine, loving people that have and will do whatever it takes in order for you to learn their practices and background. We are expected to work 40 hours/week here at Garmin, which has not been a problem whatsoever. The balance I found between work and life while working here at Garmin has been fairly nice. Getting used to the city was a big leap for me, but Garmin helped get us accustomed to this lifestyle more than I thought.”
Getting Hired Here
- “The interviews were very fitting for an internship. The technical questions were challenging but very solvable. It presented a great opportunity to demonstrate your thinking.”
- “The hiring process was really smooth. There [were] no "gotchas" or obscure questions asked during interviews. I was asked relevant technical and soft-skill questions to prove I was qualified for the job. The interview process was also very quick with there being only two interviews that were both less than an hour long.”
- “Interview process was extremely straightforward and very easy. They made the process very quick as well and kept me updated the entire time.”
- “I felt that the interviewers were kind and direct and that the assessment was very fair. I was even allowed to choose the programming language for my technical interview, which was instrumental [in] showing my problem-solving ability.”
