About the Program

Target’s summer internship gives early career talent a look at what life is like working at Target’s corporate offices, stores, and supply chain facilities. The company offers internships in many areas, including software engineering, procurement, operations, retail management, finance, marketing, and more. Internships at Target take place over the summer and typically last eight to ten weeks.

About the Company

Target is a household name in American retail. Target, as we know it, came into being around 1960, but its origins stretch back to 1902. Founder George D. Dayton established the Dayton Dry Goods Company.

Dayton wanted to create a store based on his principal belief in “the higher ground of stewardship.” The first store was officially established after Dayton purchased a major stake in the Goodfellow’s Dry Goods Company, already the fourth-largest department store in Minneapolis, Minne...

Intern Reviews

  • “The work/life balance has been great throughout my internship. The schedule is set but also flexible if needed. I felt very thankful because they allowed me to take a couple of days off to go on vacation with my family. This showed me that they value their employees' quality of life.”
  • “The culture is super awesome, honestly. Target really takes the time to make sure people are seen and valued within the industry. It also takes effort to do what they do and have the team they have ...

  • “The culture is super awesome, honestly. Target really takes the time to make sure people are seen and valued within the industry. It also takes effort to do what they do and have the team they have to be as proactive and awesome as they are. This can be shown with how the leaders delegate and treat employees.”
  • “The culture here is amazing! I am capped at 40 hours a week, and everyone ensured I kept a good work/life balance, encouraging me to take breaks as needed and stay home if I wasn't feeling well. Everyone is so kind and accepting and wants me to do well and enjoy working here. They made me feel valued and like a real part of the team. The emphasis on safety, positive culture, and putting people first is what I love the most about Target and my experience this summer.”
  • “As an intern, I work regular full-time hours. The intern program leaders emphasize the importance of work-life balance, so I never find myself being overworked. I would say it is pretty flexible given the hybrid nature of my project.”

Getting Hired Here

  • “Extremely accommodating and very communicative. Never had to worry too much because the recruiters do so good at checking in on you throughout your time.”
  • “I got to interview with about three people in order to get this internship, I think this was perfect. They got to know all about me, and I got to see a glimpse of them as well. The interviews were all virtual or over the phone, which worked out perfectly. It seems that they are very selective with their standards, and I think that ...

  • “I had two interviews, over the phone and then virtually, and was emailed my offer a couple of days later. The interviewers were very sweet and excited to do this. It was just a normal conversation about me and what I am looking for and what they are looking for.”
  • “The interactions with the interviewers were extremely positive, they were very kind and forgiving of nerves for first timers. The process had two rounds of interviews. Difficulty was as expected.”
