Oliver Wyman offers a range of talent programs designed to provide diverse opportunities for professional growth and personal fulfillment. Career sustainability means different things to different people. For some it means having the flexibility to work while pursuing personal passions. For others it means constantly being able to learn something new.
10/11 Month Year & Sabbatical
Our people have diverse life interests; our 10/11 Month Year Program enables our consultants to plan a month or two away from the firm to pursue their interests, whether it is cooking school in Italy, a trek in the Himalayas, in-depth language immersion, or helping a friend launch her not-for-profit venture. For a longer time away, consultants can take sabbaticals for up to six months.
Non-Profit Fellowship
Our Non-Profit Fellows spend up to six months working at a non-profit organization of their choice, anywhere in the world, typically in a consulting capacity helping solve knotty problems the non-profit hasn’t been able to crack themselves. Over the course of their Fellowship, our consultants broaden their life experience, develop new business and leadership skills, and make a real difference to a cause they care about. We provide a stipend up to 40% of base salary for the duration of the Fellowship, and our Fellows return to us once their assignment is completed. We invite you to learn more.
Externships and MMC Rotation Program
Some consultants want the chance to take a temporary break from consulting as they make their way to Partner and see what life is like in “the regular business world.” We provide two ways to do that. Our Externship program lets you work for another company, sometimes a client. One of the benefits of Oliver Wyman being part of Marsh & McLennan Companies ("MMC") is that our consultants can work, on a rotational basis, with our corporate parent, which is a Fortune 200 company. Both options provide a great way to broaden your skill set and develop a deeper understanding of what working life is like outside of consulting.
Internal Rotation
For consultants looking to learn something new, Oliver Wyman has a variety of internal rotation opportunities aimed at deepening your understanding of how we run our business and helping you build a more robust business toolkit. Consultants can expand their internal networks, learn about specialized functions within the firm, and take a temporary break from travel with a temporary internal role rotation.
Alternative Work Arrangements / Reduced Work Week
Most of our staff work full time. However, occasionally someone wants an alternative arrangement, whether for work-life balance reasons, for continued schooling, or for some other personal reason.
Our consultants have diverse interests and personal needs, and we make every effort to support this. There are many ways to take time to pursue your interests, or make your personal work-life sustainability goals a reality. Our culture, which focuses on output and does not value face time, helps make these programs possible.
