ADL – A Proud Tradition
Arthur D. Little (ADL) is a trusted corporate advisor in the field of strategy, technology and innovation. Our mission is to enable clients to realize their potential, seize opportunities and overcome challenges.
Founded in 1886 by a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, ADL was the world’s first management consulting firm. Since its inception, the company has been defined by a pioneering, entrepreneurial spirit. Having been at the forefront of innovation since the first industrial revolution, ADL draws on a long and proud tradition of delivering innovative solutions based on real-world knowledge and experience.
Today, ADL has over 40 offices worldwide, and works globally with Fortune 100 companies, major firms and public sector organizations. In particular, we focus on five global industry groups: TIME (Telecom, Information, Media and Electronics); Energy & Chemicals; Automotive & Manufacturing; Travel & Transportation; and Healthcare. The closeness of our relationships with our clients is a key factor in our mutual success.
Following our management buyout in 2011, we continue to expand, with year-on-year revenue and profit growth. Even in the most challenging of market conditions during COVID-19, we have been able to grow and make acquisitions. While never complacent, we are a dynamic and resilient company that is confident about the future.
Our culture
First and foremost, ADL is an entrepreneurial company - we are the oldest management consulting firm but we are not trapped by process or tradition. For our business model, this means flexibility of approach – rather than just charge our clients by the hour, we may enter into partnerships with them. We eagerly transfer our knowledge to clients while learning from their insight and experience.
This is also reflected in the way we work as a team – we value initiative and are always open to new ideas. Every path is possible, and we encourage our people to explore different industries beyond their specializations and work across disciplines.
We believe in treating team members as adults, able to take responsibility for not only their work and client relationships, but also how they organize their time. Striking the right work/life balance is an essential part of our culture and for enabling our people to perform to the best of their abilities. Maintaining a friendly and harmonious work culture is also very important to us, with open and honest communication encouraged and a sense of humor always valued.
With meritocracy a core value, gender diversity is also a top priority at ADL. Rather than just paying lip service to the idea, ADL has implemented a set of initiatives to support women throughout their consulting careers. These initiatives seek to address unconscious bias, promote flexible working options, and ensure equitable recruitment targets and development opportunities.
